So other aspects of my life include working as a journalist, writer, and editor, and also an author of creative writing.
So when I saw the pitch from Essay Daily to write about what happened on June 21, 2018, I simply couldn't resist submitting.
It's not as though the Summer Solstice is a high holy day for yoga practitioners, but many people love to mark the occasion by participating in yoga mala, or 108 Sun Salutations. I've written about this before, and try to practice this with students whenever class and time permitted. It's great fun, and the stories shared afterward are full of insight and wonder and resilience. I always love this part the most!
And sometimes, I simply have to do it myself. So when Essay Daily asked people to detail June 21, 2018, it was an interesting departure for my writing to examine yoga mala in order to give readers a peek into the process.
